Woggles/Clutters Mention in Nashville Scene

Anyone showing up at the Exit/In last Thursday night assuming the usual rock show start time likely missed most of The Clutters’ opening set, which began promptly at 9 p.m. That’s too bad, because the band previewed a handful of the promising new tunes they’ll record in August for the follow up to last year’s T & C. By the time The Woggles took the stage, a modestly sized crowd had finally arrived, then quickly got its ass kicked. They launched an arsenal of precisely calculated garage rock that impressed if for no other reason than stamina. Woggles shows have almost everything: choreographed stage moves, guitar tricks, snazzy clothes and lots and lots of songs. What they didn’t bring were ballads or breathers. The audience, mostly half the age of the band, only tepidly demanded an encore after the band’s nearly hour-and-a-half set—not out of disapproval but rather sheer, sweaty exhaustion...
